Privacy notice

This notice is issued by the Persatuan Murid-Murid Tua Edwardian Taiping Malaysia (Old Edwardians Association, Taiping) — “the association”, “we”.

What we collect

• When you check your membership: the last four digits of your IC and your mobile number, only to find your record. We do not keep what you type. We record the time and result of each check, with a scrambled code for your device, to stop misuse.
• When you join or renew online: your full name, the year you left school, the schools you attended, the last four digits of your IC, your mobile number, and if you give them your email, postal address and occupation; the type of membership; and the payment date, reference and receipt you upload. The receipt is seen only by the committee members who check payments, and is deleted 90 days after your application is dealt with. Photographs you upload are cleaned of hidden information such as location before they are stored.
• When you share news: your name, batch, email or mobile number, and what you write. Your name and batch are published with your post once it is approved; your email and mobile number are seen only by the committee.
• When you send us a message: your name, contact details and your message.
• The membership register: your name, membership number, category, batch, the last four digits of your IC, your mobile number, your membership dates and, if you gave them, your email, postal address and occupation. We never store your full IC number.

Why we use it

To run the association: to process applications and renewals, keep the membership register, let members check their membership, publish news members share, reply to messages, and keep this website secure.

Who can see it

Committee members who look after the register and the website, and the companies that host and run this website for us, only for that purpose. We do not sell personal data or use it for advertising. Photographs and videos are not uploaded to this website; links you share point to the service where you keep them, under that service’s own terms.

How long we keep it

Membership records are kept while you are a member and for a reasonable period afterwards. Declined news posts and old messages are deleted periodically. Checks recorded for security are kept only as long as needed.

Your choices

Giving your details is voluntary, but without them we cannot check your membership, publish your news or reply to you. You may ask to see or correct the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to remove a post you shared.
